AEIOU Foundation for Children with Autism is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation and registered charity committed to providing early intervention that enables children with autism to live their best lives. Since its establishment in 2005, AEIOU has delivered high-quality therapy and care for children aged 2-6, while also leading advocacy and research initiatives. As an approved NDIS provider and founding partner of the Griffith University Autism Centre of Excellence, AEIOU stands as a trusted leader in supporting families and advancing innovative autism care.
AEIOU Foundation engaged me to conduct a comprehensive digital marketing review aimed at modernising their customer-centric digital environment. The organisation faced outdated systems and strategies that were not aligned with best practices—hindering both customer engagement and internal team efficiencies. Key issues included an inefficient technology stack, inconsistent visual style, suboptimal paid media output, and non-compliance with WCAG standards. Their digital presence, from the website to social media channels and PR, was underperforming in comparison to industry benchmarks.
The primary objective was to uplift AEIOU’s digital spaces for both external stakeholders and internal teams, setting a clear pathway for digital transformation. The review was designed to establish a strategic roadmap that would modernise their digital marketing strategy and empower the organisation to communicate its mission more effectively.
I began with an extensive competitor analysis, benchmarking AEIOU’s digital presence against similar organisations. This was followed by a detailed audit covering visual style, tone of voice, marketing strategy, advertising output, SEO, content hygiene, and platform technologies. The insights gathered were then compiled into a comprehensive digital marketing review, which I presented to the AEIOU Executive Board, complete with actionable recommendations for a customer-centric digital transformation.
One of the challenges faced by AEIOU was the implementation of rapid reforms due to competing priorities and budget restraints. The digital marketing review served as a crucial catalyst to aid Marketing Directors with the necessary insights to effectively communicate their needs and formulate a future digital pathway. The AEIOU team then established a priority matrix to address recommendations from the review via an ongoing improvement approach.
The digital review successfully raised awareness and educated the internal teams, resulting in strategic budget allocations and a clearly defined roadmap for future digital initiatives. The insights provided not only positioned AEIOU for a modernised digital transformation but also enhanced their capability to drive customer-centric engagement in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
